Could a Plant-Based Diet Transform Your Body In 21 Days?

Marco Borges is a celebrity nutritionist and author of The 22-Day Revolution Cookbook, which provides you with the tools to lead a plant-based diet. After years of being surrounded by disease, he began doing research on what is the best diet to help prevent and even reverse disease and he found that the only diet that works is a plant-based diet.Marco Borges

“I saw too much heart disease around me, everyone in my family was on heart medication, they were taking a cocktail of medicines every day and I thought, there has to be a solution,” explains Marco Borges to The Latin Kitchen. He wasn’t overweight and in fact, he’s always been healthy and explains that he’s weighed the same since he was 17-years-old. But, he knew that he had to do something to help the people he loved and to lead a healthier lifestyle away from the diseases that often plague the Latino community, which is heart disease and diabetes. “Two-thirds of our population is obese or overweight, we’ve got to do something about what we’re putting into our body and how we’re eating and if we don’t change our behavior, something radical is going to happen.”

“With a plant based diet, we’re looking for foods that heal from the inside out, foods that are not processed, that are fun and super delicious to make,” he says. A lot of times people think that going plant-based is black and white and that it’s either all or none, but there are many ways to lean into a plant-based diet.  “There are many different ways to go about it and what we’re encouraging people to do is to lean in and there’s no better way to adapt a plant-based diet than during the course of 22 days,” says Borges.  Why? Because it only takes 21 days to create or break a habit.

Often times, people are afraid of the word vegan, which is why he likes to use the word “plant- based” because it’s less scary and there are so many options. In his recipe book, he has over 65 recipes that are easy to make at home and the best part is that you won’t go hungry and won’t miss out on flavor because there are so many different ways you can swap some of your favorite foods.

There are lentil burgers, nut-based cheese, ice cream recipes, and so many more delicious Latino-inspired recipes that won’t make you miss eating meat.  Plus, there are so many health benefits to following a plant-based diet, such as you will sleep better, have clearer skin, be in a better mood, better energy, better sex drive, and you’re going to lose weight naturally and feel amazing. “Once you gain these tools, you create these habits and you can continue to do this is whatever way works for you,” explains Borges.

Unfortunately, he explains, “We’re surrounded by disease and it’s not because it’s hereditary, what’s hereditary are the habits, how we eat and how we continue to eat,” says Borges. Several celebrities like Beyonce and Jay-Z have worked with Borges in the past and in fact, Beyonce wrote his foreword for his latest book. In addition to several cookbooks, he also has a 22 Days Nutrition where you can order meals, protein shakes and bars, delivered to your doorstep. He’s had many success stories, which is why this cook book has landed him at the top of the New York’s Best Seller List, but in addition he’s helped his family. Everyone from his children, mother, father, and other family members now follow a plant-based diet and are healthier than ever, which is a true testament that this is the only diet that can help keep you disease-free and allow you to lead a longer life.
