What Happens When You Overeat?

Side-effects of Overeating

Overtime, unhealthy eating patterns could lead to much more than digestive problems. It can cause weight gain, which in the long term can cause you to develop chronic conditions like diabetes and heartburn.

Overeating can also lead to bone and joint pain, which occurs from the excess pounds putting additional pressure on your bones. It can also lead to back pain, leg pain, and hip pain.

In addition obesity puts you at risk for certain types of cancers, gallbladder disease, stomach ulcers, high cholesterol and sleep apnea.

Chronic overeating can impact your mental health. Stress and anxiety can lead to overeating, which is why it’s so important to exercise at least 30 minutes every day.

The easiest way to avoid overeating is to plan ahead. Think about what food does to you and practice portion control. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go on a diet, but think about what you’re eating and the nutritional value of every meal and just don’t go overboard.
