Estrogen and progesterone are two of the most important female sex hormones and the way you exercise changes these chemicals in a way where it affects your health. Working out a certain way helps keep your estrogen and progesterone levels balanced.

Usually you hear about these hormones when you have ovulating or menstruation problems, but they’re actually important for the entire health of every cell and organ in your body. They help shield brain cells from damage caused by oxidative stress and beta-amyloid protein, which causes Alzheimer’s Disease and estrogen and progesterone help keep your bones and heart strong.

Making sure these hormones are balanced is key and the way to do it is with exercise. Over-exercising can throw these hormones out of whack and it can have negative effects. The key to keeping these balanced is to workout smarter, not harder.

Keeping your workouts to 50 minutes can help build muscle, burn calories and improve your overall health. This is why trainers recommend that you do 1 or 2 days of high-intensity interval training a week for best health and fitness results. The rest of the days you should do a moderately intense fitness routine, like strength training. There’s no question that you need to workout everyday, but now you know the amount of time that is keeping you not only fit, but healthier.
