Ruptured cysts are another side effect of endometriosis. Dunham suffered from a ruptured cyst recently, also called ovarian endometrioma. Often when a cyst ruptures they don’t require hospitalization, but hers was probably large, which is why she needed surgery to remove the scar tissue that resulted from the rupture.
Unfortunately there is no cure for endometriosis, but there are ways to treating the symptoms. Such as a hormonal treatment, which will diminish the amount of periods you get or get rid or them completely in order to improve your pain. Exercise can also improve the pain, especially if you exercise prior to getting your menstrual cycle. Eating certain foods, such as refined sugar, white flour, eating organic, grass fed meat can also help. The best way to know which treatment option is best for you is to visit your doctor.
