Camila Alves Shares 3 Tips To Relieve A Bloated Belly

Even though she tries to eat as healthy as possible, she still suffers from bloating, which is why she decided to change the way she eats.

“Around awards season, I was feeling really bloated, so I called a friend who’s a nutritionist, Rachel Beller, and I asked her what I could do,” explains Camila Alves to Delish. She says that it all comes down to your eating habits and listening to the way your body responds to the specific things you eat. “If you spend three or four days eating clean, then gradually start putting different foods back into your diet, you can get an idea—‘when I eat this, I don’t feel good’—and know what works for you.”

There are some foods that are known to increase bloating, such as soda, white bread, processed and red meat, fried food, and baked goods. Any one of these probably makes most our favorites list, which is why if you want a flat tummy, you may want to slowly remove these from your diet.

Camila’s Diet

Breakfast: Yerba mate tea, followed by a detox shake (detox powder, almond milk, and berries)

Mid-day Snack: Almonds or fresh fruit

Lunch: Pureed food

Late afternoon snack: Pureed food or a piece of fruit

Dinner: Protein, black beans, and vegetables

Pureed Foods?

Alves co-founded Yummy Spoonfuls, a baby food company that consists of preservative-free organic fruit and vegetable purees. She loves these things and soon after she began to give them to her kids, she began to get hooked to them. “I did a cleanse and there were a lot of pureed meals, and my body just agreed with it,” she explains. “It was realistic to do all pureed meals, so I do a combination,” she says.

Alves says that she started feeling bloated, so she felt that her digestive system needed a break. “For me, clean eating is making sure whatever I’m eating is fresh or organic, and that I’m only eating packaged foods with ingredients I recognize,” she says.

Her ultimate bloat banishing drink is to boil parsley in four cups of water and drink three to four cups a day for three days leading up to a major event. Another trick up her sleeve is drinking one to two tablespoons of olive oil with a squeeze of lemon juice before bed each night. She says it helps lubricate your intestines, which is another way of saying it can relieve constipation and keep your digestive tract on check.
