How To Survive Your Period When You’re On Vacation

Mood Swings

Being moody during the time of the month is something that happens to a lot of women. Staying away from caffeine can tone down your moodiness, irritability and even anxiety. Exercising also helps you release endorphins, which not only help you feel less stressed but make you feel more energized and happy. We know you’re on vacation, but unfortunately, alcohol can also increase the feelings of anger and depression during your period.woman angry

Cramps & Pain

One of the biggest complaints women have during their period is cramping, which can be very painful and debilitating. Drinking certain teas, like ginger and dandelion can help with not only cramping but mood swings. Many times when you’re traveling, the stress can make the pain feel even worse. Using birth control is said to alleviate painful cramps. Taking fish oil supplements and vitamin B1 can also help. Don’t forget to pack a heating pad and some Tylenol or Advil, just in case.

Heavy Bleeding

Having a heavy period when you’re traveling could be a nightmare. Make sure you are prepared with plenty of tampons if you’re planning on going swimming. If you’re scared your period might be heavy when you’re on vacation, try drinking red raspberry leaf tea a week before you expect to get your period. It helps women suffering from a heavy menstrual flow and strengthens the uterine muscles, plus it helps reduce abdominal pain. Other “vacation friendly foods” you can eat are cayenne, cinnamon, and iron rich foods, which can also help bring down heavy bleeding.

It’s important to do your homework ahead of time if you know you’re traveling. Getting your period while you’re on vacation can put a damper on things, but it’s not the end of the world. These are things that you can try ahead of time in order to make sure you have a good time.
