Vale is on the cover of People en Español looking thinner and she shares her struggling journey to lose her baby weight after she had her son, Daniel Nicolás, and how she went from a size 16 to a size 8!

After she finished breast-feeding her son, she began to exercise eating healthier, but she wasn’t seeing any results. For two months she was on extreme diets with no carbs, no meats, no fruits–just veggies, tuna, chicken, which was the only thing she would eat, which she says was horrible.

Vale became depressed because she was putting herself through these horrible diets and exercising without seeing any results. She even continued to use her maternity clothes since nothing else fit. She came to the point where she didn’t even want to go out with her husband because she didn’t like how her clothes fit.

After sharing her struggles with a friend, she told Vale to see an endocrinologist, which was a life-changing decision. “It wasn’t what I was eating, but a hormonal problem,” she tells People en Español. “They should tell all women that after having a child we should go see an endocrinologist because your hormones are totally off and mine were in bad shape.”

When she went to see the doctor, the doctor asked her how much weight she lost and admitted that she hadn’t lost any weight. Her doctor told her that her problem was not related to the food she ate or how much she ate; it was a hormonal problem. “I’ve lost about 30 pounds, but the best part is that it hasn’t cost me too much work,” says the actress.

Her doctor ran some tests and found Vale had a hormone imbalance and put her in a treatment to help regulate her hormones with medications and hormone shots. “I’m still in treatment, I want to lose even more so I could look even better!” explains Vale. “I feel so happy, much more at ease and much more active. I’m very content, I am happy, I’m back to being me. My husband is also very happy,” she jokes.

She’s been on treatment for over a year and she says that she’s still not completely fine. “I want to be healthier for my children. It’s not something that happens from one day to the next,” she says. It’s a slow process, but she’s very happy that her doctor was able to help her get to the bottom of her problem.
