Alkaline Water|What Are The Benefits?

The alkaline diet is based on the belief that certain foods can affect the acidity and pH of bodily fluids. People are sticking to alkaline foods and water that is said to treat or prevent diseases. Supermodel, Miranda Kerr, and other celebrities drink alkaline water as part of their beauty regime but is it really better than regular H20.

Alkaline water has a pH greater than 7, regular bottled water can have anywhere from 4-7. Natural alkaline water could be found in certain places, like Hawaii’s volcanic region, but most companies that sell it simply add alkalizing salt. There’s not much difference in the taste other than it tastes slightly sweeter than regular water. It’s not cheap though because a 12 pack could run you $25 or more. But it can be consumed from filters, faucet attachments and additives that raise the pH and make it more affordable.

What Are the Benefits?

Alkaline water is rich in alkalizing compounds, such as calcium, silica, potassium, magnesium, and bicarbonate. There are critics that say that this is just overpriced water, but there have been few studies that show that this type of water can have these added benefits:

At this point, there aren’t that many studies showing it’s negative effects, which is a good thing. Plus, any diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and water is A-ok!
