Cómo tener un embarazo sano para el corazón, aunque aún no haya concebido

Cuidarse bien la salud, sobre todo el corazón, es importante durante el embarazo. Pero la atención recibida antes de concebir, antes de quedar embarazada, puede ser igual de crítica tanto para la mamá como para el bebé.

“Durante el embarazo hay exigencias que se piden del corazón”, dijo la Dra. María Sophocles, ginecóloga obstetra y directora médica de Women’s Healthcare of Princeton, en Nueva Jersey. “Las mujeres que estén pensando en embarazarse deben optimizar su salud cardíaca antes de concebir, con el fin de prepararse bien”.

Esa es una realidad para todas las mujeres que se embarazan. Sin embargo, cuidarse bien el corazón antes de concebir es de particular importancia para quienes tengan condiciones tales como obesidad, diabetes, alta presión sanguínea o hipercolesterolemia familiar, una condición heredado que mantiene altos los niveles de colesterol y aumenta los riesgos cardiovasculares.
