There are more and more moms that are having children later in life, and many who had a child in their teens, remarried and are now having babies, resulting in siblings that are decades apart. Evelyn Lozada from Basketball Wives LA, has a 23-year-old and a 3-year-old and explains that motherhood this time around was very different than the first time.
“Raising a boy is very different than raising a girl,” she says to Latina. “Shaniece was very calm and quiet; Leo is very active and has so much energy. The technology the second time around is way more advanced too.”
One of the perks of having children that are so far apart in age is that the older sibling can help, but communication is key. “Always keep the lines of communication open. My daughter and I talk about everything with no judgment from me, so she always comes to me for advice instead of her friends.” This is one of the advantages of having a child when you are very young, you too are young and can relate to them better than when you are an older parent.
