Finding clothing that fits is not an easy task, especially for the majority of women who are plus size. Over the last decade the average size of American woman has gone up from a size 14 to a size 16. According to a new study from the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education, the average size has gone up one size, but unfortunately most retailers have failed to cater to the majority of women.
The study sampled the measurements of more than 5,500 women in the U.S. and over the last 20 years, the average waist size increased 2.6 inches, from 34.9 inches to 37.5 inches.
