Pillow Face: What is It and What Could Be the Consequences?

––––––––––

The craze for aesthetic treatments is booming, especially in China, where revenues from cosmetic surgeries have soared by 56%, and the minimum age to undergo this type of retouching is 16 years old.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are revolutionizing the way we treat facial aging. It is easy to want to go further, especially when some results of injectable fillers are good. But we must be careful about finding a delicate balance between looking youthful and like a bloated monster.

How much is enough? The main goal of treatment for movie and television celebrities is to reverse the effects of time and restore what has been lost, rather than altering their appearance. Many regular patients want the same thing: to look younger, not different.

The dangers of the Pillow Face are related to the risks associated with excessive or improper use of dermal fillers. Possible problems and complications include:

Unnatural. Excessive dermal fillers make the face look lumpy and strange. This affects a person’s self-esteem and confidence. Reactions. Any procedure that involves injecting substances into the body carries risks. Dermal fillers can cause allergic reactions, infection, or inflammation at the injection site.

Facial asymmetry. Uneven use of dermal fillers causes facial asymmetry, especially in the cheeks and lips—tissue damage. Excessive use of dermal fillers damages the underlying tissues, weakening the natural facial structure with an inharmonious appearance.

Displacement. If dermal fillers are not injected correctly or placed in the wrong areas, they displace, with undesirable results. Durability. Dermal fillers have a temporary duration; their effect will fade over time. The Pillow Face worsens when the facial fillers break down, making the appearance even less natural. Correcting a Pillow Face is complicated and expensive. New procedures are necessary to undo the previous fillers.

✅  Important. Aesthetics and beauty are subjective, and what some people may find attractive or desirable, others may not. It is always essential to seek aesthetic treatments from qualified and experienced professionals to avoid undesirable results.
