8 Tips For A Happy & Healthy Autumn

The autumn presents us with a challenge. Changes in the weather, sudden temperature drops, increased wind, precipitation, and fog take us away from the idyllic summer weather. The difference is difficult for our body, as it is less resistant to pathogens when the immune system comes under attack.

Autumn is the time of year when our body is much more susceptible to illness. Coughing and sneezing contribute to tiny droplets of saliva that we inhale swirling in the air. Once the viruses have reached our body, they attack the upper respiratory tract, our mucous membranes swell, and the common cold develops.

Our psyche also reacts to the gray face of the outside world. Some people get mood swings or melancholy, as well as a lack of mood, which also hurts our bodies.

The following 8 tips offer a foundation for strengthening your autumn health.

1. Wear appropriate clothing. Choosing a wardrobe that provides sufficient warmth is necessary to avoid freezing or catching a cold. It is best to wear thermal and sturdy footwear for slippery roads. It is also essential to wear a hat because when a person starts to freeze, the head loses 60% of the total body heat.

 2. A healthy diet. When the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, indulging in heavy, fatty, and hearty foods is tempting, but in autumn, you should focus on vitamin-rich foods. It would be best to consume plenty of vitamin C and zinc because it protects cells and stimulates the body’s defenses, while zinc positively influences the immune system.

Fresh fruits such as oranges or kiwis and vegetables in the form of peppers, pumpkin, and white cabbage are very healthy suppliers of valuable nutrients.  A healthy autumn diet includes ginger and garlic to prevent colds and tea with lots of magnesium. Avoid sugary and fatty foods.

3. Pay attention to sports. It is advisable to do enough exercise in autumn. Cycling, jogging, walking, and other fitness activities are essential to keep the internal self-healing forces active and to prevent muscle cramps.
