Evite Este Dulce Negro, Advierte La FDA

El dulce de regaliz negro podría ser una peligrosa indulgencia de Halloween para los adultos, según una nueva advertencia de la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos (FDA) de EE. UU.

En las personas de a partir de 40 años de edad, comer 2 onzas (unos 57 gramos) de regaliz negro al día durante al menos dos semanas puede provocar un ritmo cardiaco irregular (arritmia) y otros problemas, advirtió la agencia ante la llegada de Halloween.BLACK licorice

El regaliz negro contiene un compuesto llamado glicirricina, derivado de la raíz de regaliz. La glicirricina puede hacer que los niveles de potasio del cuerpo bajen, lo que puede conducir a los ritmos cardiacos anómalos, además de hipertensión, inflamación, letargo e insuficiencia cardiaca congestiva, según la FDA.

Después de que se deja de comer regaliz negro, los niveles de potasio por lo general vuelven a la normalidad y no hay problemas permanentes de salud, de acuerdo con la agencia.
