It’s only natural that our bodies crave cold refreshments during the warm weather because it helps us cool off! It’s important to keep hydrated and when you’re tired of drinking water, your second best option is an iced tea. Most teas—black, green, white, oolong, and herbal tea are rich in antioxidant polyphenols, which can help prevent you from various diseases, such as cancer, heart disease and other chronic conditions.

Most teas are low in calories or have no calories at all, which is an added benefit. Some of the best teas are loose leaf teas or teas you can easily make at home. We don’t recommend buying bottled teas, but if you have to, make sure you buy one that has no sugar. Many of them are packed with sugar and preservatives, which is why we recommend that you make it yourself at home. These are some of our favorite tea recipes:
Sweet Lime Iced Tea
Water
Black tea bags
Sugar to taste
Limes, juiced
Lemonade Mint Iced Tea

Bunch of fresh mint leaves
Black tea bags
Sugar to taste
Lemons sliced
Peach Orange Iced Tea

Clementine, peeled and segmented

Earl Grey tea bags
Thai Iced Tea

Half-and half
Some people prefer to gather all their ingredients and throw them in a pitcher of cold water, which is perfectly fine, but it will take much longer. We recommend making your tea really strong in your coffee-maker or in a big stock pot. Once it’s boiling or really hot, you can let it cool off or add some iced water so it won’t be too strong. There are a million combinations that you could do, it just takes some experimenting and focusing on flavors that you enjoy the most. Don’t forget to take advantage of the seasonal summer fruits, like berries, mangoes, lemons, limes, and using fresh herbs. Enjoy!
