2021: Un Año Récord en Trasplantes

Durante el Segundo Año de la Pandemia, los Equipos de Trasplantes de Cedars-Sinai Completan la Mayor Cantidad de Trasplantes de Órganos Sólidos de su Historia

En medio de la incertidumbre por la pandemia de COVID-19, el Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Transplant Center y el Smidt Heart Institute en conjunto llevaron a cabo 573 trasplantes de órganos sólidos en 2021, superando los 529 del año 2020 y logrando un nuevo récord para el centro médico.

“Esto es un reflejo del trabajo en equipo, nuestro compromiso con los pacientes y la generosidad de los donantes de órganos y sus familias”, afirmó la Dra. Irene Kim, directora del Centro Integral de Trasplantes y profesora asociada de cirugía. “Es un privilegio atender a los pacientes trasplantados, que podrán pasar más tiempo con sus familias y tendrán la oportunidad de una mejor calidad de vida”.

El Programa de Trasplante de Pulmón de Cedars-Sinai, dirigido por la Dra.  Joanna Chikwe, presidenta del Departamento de Cirugía Cardíaca en el Smidt Heart Institute, mostró el mayor avance. El equipo realizó tres veces más trasplantes de pulmón que en 2020.
