He started designing at the age of 11 and is known for ready-to-wear beautiful designs, not to mention that over the years he’s designed dresses that are now part of history. The first iconic dress he designed was for Carolyn Bessette in 1996, a classic wedding dress she wore when she married John F. Kennedy Jr. “I made that dress with so much love, for someone who I loved so much. And then I got home and the whole world changed for me,” he said, reminiscing about the moment when many first heard his name.
For over 20 years he’s lived every designer’s dream, having graduated from the Parsons School of Design in 1982, then working for top design houses like Anne Klein, Donna Karan, and Calvin Klein. He’s helped dress some of the biggest artists in Hollywood and his designs have made him on of the top American and Latino designers in the world.
The 54 year old designer is nowhere near done and his love for fashion has taken him to new heights. Rodriguez has been in movies, has his own fragrance, purses, accessories and even designed affordable collections for Kohl’s and Banana Republic. There’s no stopping this designer, which is why he’s such an inspiration and the reason he’s loved by so many.
