Narciso Rodriguez is the Cuban designer behind Michelle Obama’s marigold dress that stunned last night at the President’s last State of the Union address. It only made sense that she would wear a dress from Rodriguez, since he also designed the infamous red and black dress she wore when Barrack Obama won the election back in 2008.

Rodriguez is an inspiration to all those immigrant parents and children that come to the U.S. hoping for a better life. In an interview with the TODAY show last year, the Cuban designer says that he credits his success to his parents. “That idea that so many immigrants have to give their kids a better chance, they’re the real success stories,” explains Rodriguez.
