What Color Is Your Pee?

Light to medium yellow: This is considered healthy and you’re well hydrated, so this is what you should aim for every time you go to the bathroom.

Dark yellow: This usually means that you are on the verge of being dehydrated, so drink some water ASAP.

Brownish or dark-honey colored: This could mean that you’re severely dehydrated or might even have liver disease. Visit your doctor if it’s still dark after you’ve drank plenty of water.woman on toilet

Pink or reddish: Many times when you eat foods that are very red in color, like beets, rhubarb, and even blueberries, these can cause you to urinate a shade of pink or red. It could also mean that you have blood in your urine and can signal that you have a urinary tract infection, kidney infection, kidney stones, kidney disease or even some types of cancers. Visit your doctor if it persists.

Foamy or bubbly pee: When you hold it in and then run to the bathroom, the stream can shoot out and create bubbles. This is perfectly normal, even though we don’t advise to hold it in for long periods of time. When you have foamy urine or bubbles that don’t go away, this could mean that you have high protein in your urine, or kidney failure, which might be a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor ASAP.

Make sure you always check the color of your urine, and if you notice a weird smell, frequent or not normal urination, please visit your doctor. Only he will be able to answer all your questions, doubts, and properly diagnose you.
