What is Patau Syndrome (Trisomy 13)?

  • Cleft lip and palate
  • Nasal malformation

  • Learning disabilities
  • Problems with breathing
  • Microcephaly
  • Scalp defects
  • Gastrointestinal abnormalities
  • Urogenital malformations
  • Abnormalities of the hands and feet

Unfortunately, life expectancy with this syndrome is very limited, on average children with this condition live up to 2.5 days, 50% live longer than a week, and only a small percentage, less than 10% live longer than one year.
