Beauty Do’s and Don’ts During Pregnancy

Do’s

Enjoy your hair

You may find that your hair feels fuller when you’re pregnant, mainly due to the prenatal vitamins your doctor recommends. But in reality, you’re not actually growing more hair you’re just losing it more slowly than you usually do. The average woman sheds about 100 hairs a day.  During pregnancy, higher levels of estrogen prolong the growth phase, resulting in less shedding of hair and thicker tresses.

Buy a new bra

It is common for your breasts to grow a cup size or two during pregnancy.  So make sure to buy supportive bras that not only look great but support the extra weight.

Drink plenty of water and exercise

Drinking plenty of water is very important during the many changes experienced throughout your pregnancy.  Dehydration during pregnancy can lead to many complications such as headaches, nausea, cramps, edema, and dizziness. This is especially important in the third trimester when dehydration can actually cause contractions that can trigger preterm labor.

Water can assist you in many ways:

  • Morning sickness
  • Acidity
  • Heartburn
  • Maintains your temperature
  • Prevents urinary infections
  • Eases constipation, hemorrhoids, edema, and water retention

Pregnancy can sap your energy, but regular bouts of exercise will help you get through your day.

Exercise can:

  • Help with stability
  • Alleviate joint pain
  • Improve your sleep
  • Prepare you for a shorter labor

The golden rule to remember when pregnant is when in doubt about using a new product, make sure to ask your doctor first.
