Alejandro Fernández was hospitalized recently and at first there were rumors that a jaguar bit him—yikes! Fortunately that wasn’t true and the singer released a statement saying that he was in fact bitten, but not by a jaguar.

Fernández was hospitalized in Puerto Vallarta this week and according to TVNotas, the infection he suffered from the injury was extremely dangerous. “They say a dog is a man’s best friend and my dogs are my greatest treasures, they are my family,” said Fernández. “I am aware that ‘Kush’s’ [his dog] bite was an accident, we were playing. I love my dogs and I want to give them all the best.” 
Recent reports revealed that the dog bite was infected and if he would’ve waited longer to get medical help, the bite could’ve been fatal. “After this sad episode, I have been thinking a lot. I realized that life is so fragile and it can fade away any minute. We only have one life and it’s up to us to make it wonderful, which is why I thank life itself for letting be with my family one more day, and of course, my beloved audience. I know I have many reasons to keep fighting for and I will continue to get better. There will be Alejandro for many more years.”
