When you’re a busy mom, you often prioritize your children’s well-being, which can lead to unhealthy habits and even skipping meals. Jessica Alba was feeling exhausted and being a working mother she thought it was lack of sleep until she turned to a wellness guru which told her that it was her eating habits that were making her sleepy all the time.

Alba’s busy lifestyle caused her to get in the habit of skipping breakfast, which was throwing her blood sugar off. She was craving more carbs throughout the day, which made her feel tired.  Nutritionist Kelly LeVeque recommended that she start the day off with a green smoothie that includes a mix of greens, 1/3 of banana, chia seeds, almond milk, and almond butter. “The idea was to balance her blood sugar from the get-go with something that was a great source of fiber,” she says to Well + Good.

She told Alba that instead of reaching for the unhealthy heavy carbs when she’s hungry, she should stick to avocado, guacamole is a great snack. The healthy fats in avocado are good for cell development and can keep your blood sugar levels stable longer.

Kelly LeVeque recently released a book called Body Love, which is a nutritional guide that helps people clean up their eating habits the right way, the healthy way. “The Fab Four are proteins, fats, fiber, and greens. Those four things together actually turn off all the hunger hormones in your body and elongate your blood sugar curve,” said LeVeque to InStyle magazine. “Instead of counting calories, we’re looking for and counting up the things that our cells need to feel calm and relaxed.”

This is a great rule to follow, which helped Alba balance out her meals, which worked wonders and got rid of her fatigue!
