Cameron Diaz Starts The Day Off With A Liter of Water & You Should Too

Everyone knows how beneficial it is to keep well hydrated, especially in the summer! Cameron Diaz starts her day by drinking a liter of water, which is perhaps the secret to her great skin, but drinking water first thing in the morning has many other benefits.

“It’s very important to start your day off with a lot of energy,” she says. “For me, that starts with getting up, brushing my teeth and drinking some water—I drink a liter of water straight down.” It might not be a bad idea if you’re one of those people that wake up rushing to the bathroom first thing in the morning and your pee is bright yellow. That means you probably went to bed dehydrated and you need to drink more water. Plus, drinking water before you go to bed, lowers your risk of a heart-attack while you sleep.

The actress is definitely onto something because as you sleep your body is still working on digesting your food and recharging you for the next day, which is why you need to drink more water before and after bed.


What Are The Benefits?

There are several benefits to drinking water early in the morning. When you wake up with a dry mouth, drinking water immediately takes that ugly parched feeling away, you also feel refreshed, and in turn have more energy, feel lighter and happier.

Many people drink water with lemon first thing in the morning because lemon water helps flush out toxins, but regular water works too. Drinking water also gives your immune system the kickstart it needs early in the morning. It fills you up and curves your appetite, helping you reach for the oatmeal instead of the donuts in the morning. If you have trouble going #2 and you don’t have much time to get ready, water helps move things out faster and relieves constipation. Plus, water keeps your skin hydrated, making your skin look healthy and beautiful.

Looks like Cameron Diaz is benefiting in more ways that we first imagined. But, in reality you don’t need to drink a whole liter of water. It’s good that she can drink 1 liter of water that early in the morning, but those that want to follow in her footsteps could start seeing the benefits, even if they start with an 8 oz. glass of water. Remember that some fruits have tons of water, so starting your day off with water and a cup of fruit can work wonders too.
