One of the biggest mistakes people make in the summer is skip their regular skin routine. But, you can’t exactly be doing the same thing you do in the winter now in the summer. Keep it Clean

One of the biggest issues during the summer is having clean skin, which is the number 1 acne culprit. When it’s hot outside, you begin to sweat and soon enough your sweat will get mixed with excessive oil, as well as dirt and bacteria that can clog up your pores, giving you acne.

Listen To Your Skin

It’s important to figure out what type of skin you have. If you have oily or sensitive skin, try washing your face once or twice a day with a gentle cleanser, or a facial wash that helps prevent acne. Also, focus on other parts of your body where you might get acne, such as your back and arms. Use an anti-blemish or antibacterial body wash to have clear skin all over.

Be Gentle

Make sure you’re not over cleansing or over exfoliating because that can cause irritation and dry your skin. Other things that can cause irritation is wiping off your sweat. Many times when you workout outside, you begin to sweat and wipe off sweat with a terry cloth and this can mess with your skin. Instead wear a headband that will trap some of your sweat from your face. Once you get home, be sure to shower that way you remove excessive sweat from your body gently.

Remove Dead Skin Cells

Once your face is clean, don’t immediately apply a moisturizer. Before that, use a cleansing product that contains salicylic acid, which helps remove dead skin cells. If you have oily skin, skip the salicylic acid and use a toner that is water-based in order to avoid drying or irritating your skin.

Moisturize

Picking a good moisturizer for the summer is no easy task. It’s always good to talk to a dermatologist or read reviews to see what works best for your skin type. One of the biggest trends is to use oil to keep your skin moisturized, which helps penetrate and moisturize deeper than face creams.

SPF

It’s important to use a moisturizer that has SPF, but if you choose to use an SPF on top of your moisturizer, make sure you find one that is oil-free if you have oily skin. Only use water-resistant sunscreens on days when you’ll be at the beach or working out outside.

Makeup

Practically anything that touches your skin can cause you to break out and this includes your makeup. Remember that makeup has an expiration date and make sure you clean your brushes and wash your hands before applying makeup to prevent bacteria from coming near your pores.

Eat for Your Skin

Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated, but it also helps prevent breakouts. Make sure you are taking advantage of all the delicious fruits and vegetables, which help increase collagen-production and give you that beautiful summer glow. Also, avoid processed greasy foods, which cause breakouts.
