Many men and women have varicose veins, they’re not pretty and they hurt. As you age the valves in your veins that help regulate blood flow wear and tear. This causes the valves to allow some blood to flow back into your veins where it gathers instead of flowing up to your heart.

Many times these are hereditary–thanks mom, but other times they pop up when you’re pregnant, overweight, or standing for long periods of time. Some of these spider veins are just ugly to look at, but others cause pain or can lead to other complications like ulcers or even blood clots, so it’s important to visit your doctor if the pain persists. But, since Latinos love home remedies, why not give these a try:

Apple vinegar: Many of us have this ingredient in our homes, since it’s such a great thing to have not only for cooking, cleaning, and for medicinal properties it carries. You can use compresses of apple vinegar and apply to the varicose veins. Or you could make a paste with aloe vera and carrots. Leave for 30 minutes and then wash it off.

Aloe Vera: The Aloe is used in many moisturizers because it has so many vitamins beneficial to the skin. For varicose veins you can warm the gooey substance from the Aloe Vera and apply compresses to the affected area. Aloe Vera is known to benefit the circulatory system  anti-and serves as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Cola de Caballo: Or Horsetail is another herb that most of us are very familiar with. Many people use this herb in the form of tea to relieve urinary tract infections and even kidney stones. It’s anti-inflammatory powers and antioxidant powers can also help with varicose veins.
