Selena Gomez Is Back In The Gym, Weeks After Kidney Transplant

Selena Gomez is back at the gym just a couple of weeks after announcing she received a kidney transplant, which is something that is highly recommended for most people, but it has even more benefits for dialysis patients and post-kidney transplant.

Gomez revealed that she had undergone a successful kidney transplant as part of her lupus treatment on September 14th. “She just came in and went hard. We were all, ‘Okay, that’s what I’m talking about!,” said Rumble co-founder Noah D. Neiman to People where she worked out. “She killed it.”

“She said, ‘No guys, I’ll bring my A game next time’ and I was like, ‘What?! Look at you, you just had surgery,’” Neiman says. “She legit has a whole new kidney! But she was great.”

Everyone knows how important it is to get plenty of exercise but it’s so important for people with kidney disease, before and after transplant. Patients that get dialysis every week have problems with water retention, which can cause a number of other health problems. Getting exercise every day helps dialysis patients with digestion, increases energy levels, helps control blood sugar and blood pressure, lowers the risk of heart disease, helps with sleep, decreases stress, helps with bowel movements, and even allows you sweat out excess water in your body through sweat.

After a kidney transplant, regular exercise helps boost energy levels and increase strength. It also helps you maintain a healthy weight, reduce stress and prevent high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Experts say that weight gain is common among transplant patients because of the steroids they have to take to make sure your body accepts the kidney transplant. These drugs can boost their appetite and make it harder for their body to use carbs, which can lead to weight gain.
