This Birthday Celebrate What You’ve Accomplished, NOT What You Haven’t

birthday girl

Many women dread the day they reach a huge milestone, like turning 21, 30, 40 or 50. These are very difficult birthdays for many because they start thinking about everything they’ve wanted to accomplish before they reached this milestone, yet they don’t focus on everything they have accomplished. Instead of worrying about what you haven’t accomplished, on your next birthday think about all of the things that you have accomplished because we promise you will not only be surprised but thankful that you’ve had all of those experiences (good and bad).

Many times we dread birthdays because as women we put so much pressure on the numbers. Whether it’s our age, our weight, we’re always comparing ourselves to others, rather than embracing what you have done and what you bring to the table. This birthday, focus on you. More and more women are putting off marriage until later in life, and it’s completely o.k. if you don’t get married in your 20’s or 30’s.

Yes, people talk, but who cares!

Some women focus on their careers, on traveling, and have no interest in the domestic life and they shouldn’t be judged by their decisions. Your birthday is a great opportunity to focus on your short and long-term goals, but also to give thanks that you reached this birthday because you are healthy. If you don’t feel you are where you want to be, then jot down some ideas and work on improving those areas that need improving. Take the necessary steps to get our of a rut (if you are in one), but don’t bring yourself down on your birthday because it’s a day to celebrate.

Take America Ferrera for example, she is exactly what we are talking about. She finally understands that her body is a miracle and just like many of us, she’s spent years doubting her abilities and it’s great to see what she’s learned about loving herself and the milestone she’s reached.
