Luis Miguel Suffers from Tinnitus, May Cause Hearing Loss

Luis-Miguel

Luis Miguel has always been a mysterious man, he rarely gives interviews and his life reads like a bachelor fairy-tale filled with extravagant vacations and beautiful women. Yet, those are all speculations because he never likes to kiss and tell. Even his 2 children with actress Aracely Arámbula are rarely seen in the spotlight because he doesn’t share any intimate details of his life. He likes the mystery and lately he’s been disappointing fans, canceling concert after concert, due to health reasons.luis miguel

Last year, we learned that he suffers from tinnitus, which is the ringing or buzzing of the ears. This is not surprising, especially from someone like Luis Miguel who first got on stage at only 8 years old.

One of the causes of tinnitus is the exposure to loud noise, which in his case could mean hours and hours on stage next to sound systems and music in elevated volumes. Prolonged exposure to loud noise can damage the small sensory hair cells in your ear that transmit sound to your brain. As you age, the number of functioning nerve fibers in your ear declines, causing hearing problems when you have this condition. In addition it can cause, fatigue, stress, depression, sleeping problems, trouble concentrating, and anxiety.

“It was something that began developing, after so many years on stage, the different levels of music that we’ve done over the past 30 years [and] it’s only normal that there would be some type of reaction from my body,” explains Luis Miguel, in an interview with Telenoche.   “I had to walk away from the album, from my career and profession, but it was necessary, [it was] something that had to do with my personal life, but I’ve passed that stage and right now I just want to look forward to what’s next.”

El Sol de Mexico continues to cancel concerts like he did in Mexico City most recently, and there are even rumors of him retiring.
