It’s Strawberry Season!|Spinach & Strawberry Salad

The spring comes with a lot of delicious options. It’s a great time of the year to take advantage of eating fresh fruits and vegetables because not only are they the freshest, but also they’re packed with so many nutrients. There are many fruits and veggies that are best when eaten in the spring, such as cherries, fava beans, beets, navel oranges, radishes, and strawberries. These are ingredients that can be easily included in a delicious salad.

Why are strawberries so great?

The best thing about strawberries is that they taste delicious. Some people like to wash them and eat them right from the container, others like to add cream and make strawberries and cream, a sprinkle of sugar or even blend them in a smoothie. There are so many ways you can eat strawberries and the good thing is that they’re in season starting in the spring and all the way to the end of summer. If you like sweet strawberries and don’t know if they will be sweet just from looking at them, it might be a good idea to smell them, because if they’re very fragrant or have a sweet smell, then they’ll definitely be sweet.  In addition to being delicious, they are also:

Strawberry Spinach Salad

Ingredients
1 tbsp of sesame seeds
1 tbsp of poppy seeds
1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of distilled white vinegar
1/4 tspn of paprika
1/4 tspn of Worcestershire sauce
1 tbspn of minced onion
10 oz fresh baby spinach rinsed
1 qt of strawberries cleaned and sliced
1/4 cup of almonds sliced

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, add the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, onion and Worcestershire sauce.  Mix ingredients and let them chill in the refrigerator for about one hour. Then add your spinach, strawberries, and almonds and refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before you’re ready to serve.
