Part of the joys of being a mother is spending as much time as you can with your child. When you are a working mom, you have to be able to manage many things at once and your workout time sometimes gets trumped by spending quality time with your children. In a recent Instagram post, Thalia showed us how she sneaks in a mini workout while out at the park with her daughter.

She shared a video where she’s pushing her daughter who’s on a swing. “If don’t push hard, she gets made at me! And when there is no time to go to the gym, any activity is good to tone your body. There’s no excuses, mothers! Let’s do this!”

When you’re a mother you have to make time for yourself, but at the same time you don’t want to leave your kids unattended, especially when they’re little. We put together a list of ideas for workouts you could do while keeping an eye or sharing your workout with your child.

Busy Mom Workouts

  1. The playground: One of the great things about having your children during the day is that every other big kid is at school. You can have fun with your child at the park and squeeze in some cardio, step-ups and even pull-ups on the monkey bars.
  2. Run: Many women take up running to lose their baby weight. There are strollers that are made for running, so you could take your baby along for the ride.
  3. Yoga: With yoga, you don’t even have to leave the house. You set your child next to you or if they’re old enough, you can encourage some mom and child yoga.
  4. Walk during lunch: Many working moms are super busy working moms and the only time they have to themselves is their one hour lunch. There are corporate offices that have gyms or even trails where you could take a walk during your lunch. You could always eat lunch later, at your desk.
  5. Dance: Many women love to dance (especially if you’re Latina) and the best time to be energetic is when you’re doing chores, washing dishes, sweeping, etc. Turn up your favorite salsa music and start burning the calories!

There are many other ways to sneak in a workout, like gardening, walking the dog or just a walk with your kids after dinner. It’s important to make time for yourself because not only does working out keep you healthy, but it also releases stress.
