Edith González: “Cancer is Not Going to Control Me”

Edith Gonzalez

Women are strong, but Edith González has shown again and again that cancer is not going to beat her. The beautiful Mexican actress was recently seen on the cover of Quien magazine completely bald since for the past 8 months she’s been undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with endometrial cancer or cancer in the uterine lining. Edith González en portada.

“I’ve been bad, bad, bad,” says González to the magazine. She visited her doctor after suffering from back pain, that’s when her life came crumbling down. She was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and doctors removed her uterus, ovaries, her appendix, and lymph nodes, since cancer had spread to other parts of her body.

During the last couple of months, she’s gone through hell since side effects have included vomiting, imbalance, and even the loss of certain movements. Yet, she refuses to cry or to feel defeated. “I decide because cancer is not going to control me, no matter what happens.”

The actress was seen looking beautiful and in good spirits at the Luminus Awards in Mexico and when asked about her health, she said, “My health is fine, I just have cancer.” González refuses to give in to the disease and wants to do everything to live and to beat this. “I’ve always said that you don’t take cancer seriously, what you take seriously is the treatments,” she says. She was seen beaming and she told reporters that she’s happy and feels radiant, “the treatments are long but soon it will over.”

She wants her daughter Constanza to see a mother that is strong, which is why she’s told her about the disease she has. “Death, wait for me sitting down because my best dance will take a long time to get here,” said González.

Her valor is inspiring and admirable and we hope she will soon announce that she’s cancer-free.
