Lopez has been seen on Instagram throwing a few punches as part of a rigorous workout, but we hope he’s ready to box it out in front of an ex-world champ. Then again, he’s training with Cesar Chavez, so he’s in good hands!

“I can’t wait to get into the ring with Oscar and have some fun with him, but most importantly, bring attention to the work that CharityVision does to give many deserving individuals the gift of sight,” Lopez said in a statement.

According to CharityVision there are 39 million that are blind all over the world and unfortunately 90% of them live in developing countries where every minute a child goes blind. Out of that 90% a shocking 80% of blindness can be cured.  The non-profit works with local physicians to create sustainable solutions to address the blindness epidemic. The organization contacts physicians who are willing to provide the surgeries and their time for no cost and the organization takes care of allocating surgical equipment, facilities and the supplies they need to perform the surgeries.

“It’s an honor to be part of their great work and we’re going to have a great night that will change many lives,” said Lopez. De La Hoya and Lopez are good friends and they can’t wait to get in the ring for a great cause. The event is expected to raise $1 million, which will help cover the costs for 40,000 sight-restoring surgeries in poverty areas around the world. The average cost of a surgery is $25 and anyone can donate at www.givesight25.com.
