Stress is something that is avoidable, but it’s definitely something you can manage better. It’s important set some time apart for you; this includes eating healthier, exercising, and going to bed at the same time each day. Signs of stress can show up all over your body, so make sure you take care of you to eliminate any physical signs of stress.

Noticeable Signs of Stress

Acne

Are you suddenly getting acne you weren’t getting before? When you’re stressed, you release cortisol, which can interfere with other hormones in your body and cause breakouts on your face, back and other parts of your body.

Fix: Take deep breaths, drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods like high quality proteins, fruits and vegetables.

Dry Skin

Making sure you drink enough water is great for your skin and when you’re not keeping hydrated, your skin lets you know. Often when you’re stressed your go-to-drink is anything with caffeine. You’re looking for a drink that gives you the energy to keep up, so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water.

Fix: Drink plenty of water–green tea is also great for a boost of healthy antioxidants; also eat fruits and vegetables with high water content to get beautifully hydrated skin.

Fine Lines

Have you ever looked at your reflection in your car’s rear view mirror when you’re stuck in traffic? It’s not a pretty picture. Those traffic jams could be giving you fine lines and we all know how hard they are to go away. Over time they can lead to deeper wrinkles and no one wants that!

Fix: Keep your cool and look in the mirror. When you’re infuriated or upset, take a deep breath and relax. It’s not worth it. Get a moisturizer that targets those fine lines because you don’t want any permanent damage.

Bags Under Your Eyes

When you over-stress, you don’t sleep well. You wake up during the middle of the night and this can interrupt your beauty sleep. This causes fluid to build-up below your eyes making them puffy.

Fix: For starters, don’t sleep on your face because that will cause puffy eyes. Make sure you’re sleeping enough hours and if you have to, drink some chamomile tea to help you sleep. Hide the bags under your eyes by applying concealer in the shape of an inverted triangle under your eyes.

Gray Hair

You’ve probably heard the saying: “You’re giving me gray hairs” and this is true. Stress can cause you to go prematurely gray because it can halt the production of melanin, which can also cause your hair to thin and fall out.

Fix: Talk to your doctor to see if you could benefit from taking biotin or a vitamin B supplement. This will help your hair get the nutrients it needs, plus you can also start using protein-rich shampoos.

Grooves in Your Nails

Vertical lines on your nails are perfectly normal, but when you start getting horizontal grooves and ridges run across, these are Beau’s lines. They show up when your body is built up with stress or signs of other health issues, like diabetes, a vitamin deficiency or even an STD.

Fix: Get them checked out!

Getting stressed out about difficult situations is inevitable. But, there are ways to keep your cool. Take deep breaths, take a walk, think of something funny or something that will take you to your happy place. Practice some yoga and meditate, which helps clear your mind. Relax and make sure you’re releasing some of that stress one way or another.
