How Often Should You Wash Your Dirty Towels?

Most people feel that if a towel smells good, that it’s still clean. There are so many different types of towels from dish towels, hand towels to bath towels. Chances are that you use them every single day and if you want to get close to being germ-fee, you might want to wash them more often.

Kitchen towels

When you think about all of the action that happens in the kitchen, the cooking, the eating, the washing of hands, etc. Many people tend to have one kitchen rag that they use to wipe off the counters and another to dry dishes–and if you wash your hands in the kitchen you might use that towel too. If you have a dirty kitchen rag, you are actually introducing hundreds of thousands of bacteria. That counter you just wiped that looks clean, might be infested with germs. The same goes for those dishes you just washed and dried with that towel. Experts recommend that you wash these towels after each use, preferably dip them in diluted bleach and keep them dry, since moisture invites germs to grow.

                                                     Personal Wash Towels

Ever wonder why you keep breaking out? It might be your washcloth or wash towel. When you wash your face you are actually scrubbing off dirt, bacteria and dead skin cells, and when you wipe your face on a dirty face towel, your face isn’t getting any cleaner. You’re reintroducing dirt and bacteria back into your face, which is what’s causing you to break out. Experts recommend that you wash face towels and wash towels after every use. You can use fragrance-free detergent to avoid irritating your skin.

Bath Towels

Just think about every person that takes showers in your home, they use the towel and then throw them on the floor. Most people reuse towels and share towels because they’re dry and they smell clean, right? Towels are extra thick, so they lock in moisture and they become stinky faster. When you are drying your skin after a shower, you are also removing millions of dead skin cells onto the towel, which is where that smell comes from. Experts recommend that you wash bath towels after three uses and instead of fabric softener you should bleach or vinegar, which gets rid of odors and germs.
