A.B. Quintanilla owes lots of child support

Children cost money and lots of it. A.B. Quintanilla was recently in the Nueces county’s top 10 Most Wanted list because he failed to pay child support for one of his children. Selena’s younger brother, announced back in January that he was expecting baby #9, so we could only imagine how much he pays in child support, even though that’s not a valid excuse!

Judge Missy Medary held him in custody for contempt of court so that he could think about his responsibility and rights of his son. According to the San Antonio Express News, he was ordered to pay $130,000, which includes $87,000 of back child support for his now 18-year-old son and $45,000 that include medical health costs.

What’s contempt of court?

Contempt of court is the failure to obey a court order, in this case, the failure to pay child support. A judge can put you in jail or make you set up a payment schedule for you to pay any unpaid support. In this case, the judge thought Quintanilla needed to learn a lesson, which is why she locked him up. There’s no word whether he’s been released, but there’s definitely a lesson to be learned here.

Children need a good support system to grow up healthy, and that includes food on the table, health insurance, trips to the doctor, clothes, school costs, etc. One parent can’t do it alone, there are many that do so due to various circumstances, but it’s something that you should be held responsible for, so don’t be like him, pay your child support, and avoid jail. He prides himself on having 9 kids, but if you can’t afford to support them, then maybe it’s time for a vasectomy.
