Sammy Sosa’s Skin Complexion Is Not What It Used to Be

Sammy Sosa has not been seen in quite a while, but in a recent photo, he appeared to be a lighter shade of pink than we remember. The former Chicago Cubs player’s face has been getting lighter and lighter since 2009. At first, it was rumored that he suffered from a skin condition, similar to Michael Jackson’s, but later Sosa admitted that he’s used a bleaching cream which whitens his skin tone. Sammy Sosa

“It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften [my skin], but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily,” he said in an interview with Primer Impacto back in 2009.

Perhaps he suffers from vitiligo and uses this cream to even out his skin tone, or perhaps he just likes the way this product makes his skin feel, regardless of what it does to his skin. Skin bleaching is a cosmetic treatment that targets skin discolorations in order to even out the color of the skin.

These products are available widely and even over the counter, yet they do pose health risks, such as mercury poisoning. What we do know is that Sosa purchased the cream in Europe and he has done a very good job at keeping the name of the cream and any info about his skin color under wraps.
