It’s been over 20 years since Selena died, but the love and admiration from her fans continues to keep her alive. Nearly 38,000 fans signed a petition for MAC Cosmetics to design a collection around the singer’s signature look and today they got their wish. Her signature red lips and dark eyeliner was hot in the 90’s and continues to be a part of many Latina’s timeless looks.
“It’s amazing to me that 21 years later there is a whole new generation that has fallen in love with her. Selena was working on a makeup line when she passed, as well as a perfume, so when I first saw this line, it made me tear up,” says Suzette to Latina, Selena’s sister, which helped curate the collection.
“I pulled out all her makeup, everything she wore on and off stage. And MAC matched the colors to the line. The line is all her,” explains Suzette to Express-News. The collection was named after some of her most popular songs, which make it even more fun.
“We heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies MAC’s philosophy. Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades,” said James Gager, MAC vice president and creative director
