The entire process took less than 4 minutes. “It’s amazing how quick it is,” said Harry, who tested negative for the HIV. Kensington Palace tweeted that the prince took the test live because he “believes his generation needs to take leadership in the fight against HIV, or risk losing the gains of those who’ve come before.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most U.S. high school students and young adults who are sexually active don’t get HIV tests. On average, just 22% of high school students and 33% of young adults aged 18 to 24 that are sexually active report being tested at least once for HIV.
“It’s better that everyone goes and gets tested. Why wouldn’t you? Whether you’re a man, woman, gay, straight, black, white, whatever, even ginger, why wouldn’t you come and have a test?” said Prince Harry.

The prince is following in his mother’s footsteps, since Princess Diana’s charity work included HIV awareness. Prince Harry is expected to be in Durban, South Africa next week for the 21st International AIDS Conference.
According to the World Health Organization, 36.7 million people have HIV at the end of 2015 and those numbers are not going down.
