Dr. Torres Leaves Grey’s Anatomy After Breaking So Many Rules

Sara Ramirez (Dr. Torres) on Grey’s Anatomy officially said good-bye to the show after 10 wonderful years. The spicy Latina went through so much on the show, from the death of her first husband, to getting pregnant by her hot bff, Dr. McSteamy, to divorcing her wife. She went through a roller-coaster ride of heart-crushing relationships that never ended well–she broke a lot of rules and her fans love her for that.sara ramirez

Ramirez gave life to one of the most iconic scenes of the show, which was when Callie danced in her underwear. Why was it a big deal? Because not only was she dancing in her underwear, but you could see the jiggle in her bounce with cellulite and all and she did not have a care in the world.

“Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago, and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey. Sara Ramirez’s performance inspired me as well as millions of fans each week,” said her boss, writer and creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes.

Dr. Torres always followed her heart, whether it was when her rich father decided to cut her off financially upon learning that she was bisexual or jumping from male to female lovers throughout the ten years she was on the show. She also married her wife and divorced her while raising their child together. During this last season, she and Arizona took viewers inside a terrible child custody battle, something that rarely is seen on TV.

The LGBT community loves Ramirez because this show has shined light on various LGBT issues. “I’m always going to support the LGBT community and equal rights for the LGBT community,” said Ramirez to Latina. “That’s going to be with me till the day I die and beyond. I mean, that’s just what it is!” She even started a foundation in 2009 in honor of her best friend Al D. Rodriguez, a gay actor that died of cancer.

She was also a badass doctor that never sat back and watched, but instead took nearly impossible cases where you really felt her passion for her work.

Plus she also has some mean pipes! Remember this episode:
