Carlos Vives Receives Award of Excellence at Premio Lo Nuestro

Premios Lo Nuestro are the Latino version of the People’s Choice Awards, where people vote for their favorite artists. Carlos Vives, the king of ballenato was given the Award for Excellence, not only for his 30 years in the industry, but also for his contributions to the Latino music industry.

“I want to congratulate the Latino community, they are the excellence in this marvelous country, thanks for everything you do for this country,” said Carlos Vives as he received the award.

The singer was moved and said how proud he is of being Colombian, Latino and how he always valued what his family did for him. “I want to tell our youth that everything good that they get, that they achieve in a country like the U.S.; never forget your origin, your country, your grandparents, your ancestors.” He worked very hard for everything he’s achieved and explains that even though you’re going to find people that are not going to make things easy for you, you are going to find people that love you, and at the end those are the people you should hold on to.
