Burn Victim: “All I Want for Christmas is Christmas Cards”

It’s Christmas time and the only thing 8 year old Sa’fyre Terry wants for Christmas is Christmas cards to fill up her holiday card holder. The young girl survived a house fire, where she lost her father and siblings, as well as suffered burns on over 75% of her body.

Two years ago someone set fire to her home, killing her father and her three siblings. Sa’fyre lost her left foot, right hand, and had over 50 skin graft surgeries to help reconstruct her burned skin.

She lives with her aunt Liz Dodler, since her mom signed over custodial rights to her. “Safyre lost everything – her father, her mother, her sister, her brothers, her home, her favorite toy, her favorite outfit – everything that was familiar to her,” says Dodler, who petitioned the courts to become her guardian. “She even lost the one thing we all take for granted – her reflection. But she wakes every morning with a smile on her face.  She is the true definition of hope, faith and love.”

Sa’fyre’s wish is becoming a reality, since every day she receives hundreds of cards and gifts, including teddy bears, handmade jewelry, signed by many people from across the country.

American Greetings even created a page for Safyre so that everyone could sign a card that they will send to her at no cost. Her family also created a YouCaring fundraising page to help with her medical expenses.

Sa’fyre and her family could not be more happy, as the cards and help continue to pour in.
