There’s a new Facebook baby in town! Proud parents, Dr. Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook announced Tuesday the birth of their daughter, Max. The news was welcomed by millions of congratulations and support to the famous couple. The couple also pledged to donate 99% of their Facebook stock, worth a whopping $45 billion during the course of their lives to promote equality and the human potential.

The philanthropists have been sharing their wealth for years. Chan launched a free private school earlier this year with Zuckerberg. The school combines healthcare and education for underserved children. In addition they recently gave $20 million to Education Super Highway, a nonprofit that helps public schools buy affordable high-speed Internet access. They also support Summit Public School; KIPP, a network of 183 charter school and AltSchool, a small group of private schools that focus on mixed-aged learning.

“Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children,” Zuckerberg and Chan said in a letter to their daughter. “We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can’t wait to see what you bring to this world.”
This is Zuckerberg’s first child and like most parents, it’s a learning experience. Back in July he revealed that Chan had three miscarriages, a very personal detail of his life. He shared this personal information in order for others to talk about the experience and to let other couples like them know that they’re not alone.
It’s no secret that Mark Zuckerberg has changed our world with Facebook and has inspired others to develop an amazing community. Everyone is anxious to know where the money will go, but we’re sure it will go to great causes.
