Ariana Grande: “There’s a Big Problem With This Picture”

Women love to shop and they have a large purchasing power, especially Latinas. Yet, when it comes to specialty magazines, if women are interested in reading about cars, they have to go look for those magazines in the men’s section. Ariana Grande and her mom stumbled across a newsstand with men and women’s magazines shown on separate racks labeled by “women’s interests” and “men’s interests” which caused the singer and her mother question why in this day in age men and women can’t share common interests.

“What’s wrong with this picture?,” asked Joan Grande, the singer’s mother. “Oh! So women are only interested in tabloids & if I want to read about cars, business, [and] science I have to go the MEN’S section?” she replied on Twitter. “I know mannnnnny men who are going to the magazine section for Cosmo or Vogue or an Elle!” She then went on to acknowledge how outspoken and feminist her mom is.

Bravo Ariana, it’s time we start breaking barriers and start acknowledging that both men and women share common interests. Why can’t newsstands just label magazines stands by common interests, like tabloids, science, business and other topics. That would definitely make magazines easier find!
