Wet Hair
Strong hair starts in the shower. Make sure you are using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Choose shampoos that have essential oils, like Argan oil, which not only repairs, but hydrates. You don’t want your beautiful strands to look dry and brittle during the summer. Never put your hair up when it’s wet or go to sleep with wet hair, make sure you air dry it or blow-dry it first.
Use Product
Just like your skin needs sunscreen, so does your hair. There are UV-shielding products that you can use in order to protect your hair from the high rays. Using these products are especially beneficial if you have color-treated hair because you don’t want to go beach blond if you spend too much time outside.
Protect Your Hair From Chlorine
If you’re going to swim in a pool, make sure you hit the showers and wet your hair before going into the pool or ocean that way your hair won’t absorb all of that chlorine or salt water. Plus you don’t want your hair to turn green—yes it happens!
Combing Your Hair
The most popular hairdoo for the summer is the ponytail and while it may get your hair out of your face it’s important to choose your hair your accessories wisely. Skip the rubber bands and any others that hold your hair too tight. Remember that your hair is fragile and if you brush or pull on it too harshly it will break or fall off and you know how annoying it is to comb those little hairs around your face. If you’re going to do a ponytail or bun, don’t tie it too tight. Make it a habit to let your hair loose at night, let it breathe!
Hold On To Your Hair
Wind can send your strands of hair flying in every direction, which can lead to breakage, dryness and split ends. Make sure if you’re going to be driving with the windows down, you hold on to your hair. Put it up, braid it, wrap it in a scarf, or wear a hat to protect it from the wind and heat.
