Latino Celebrities Standing Up Against Violence

Latino celebrities have been very vocal about women’s rights this week. First Alejandro Sanz stops a performance in Mexico after seeing a woman being attacked right in front of his eyes. Then Demi Lovato went on a Twitter rant in support of Kesha who is undergoing a legal battle with Dr. Luke.

According to videos from the concert, Sanz signaled concert security to stop the violent attack on the woman. The singer even walked off the stage and into the crowd signaling out the attacker. “I apologize for the episode before, because I cannot imagine anyone touching someone else like that,” he said.

Demi Lovato started Tweeting after she heard that Kesha lost her battle against Dr. Luke, whom she claims drugged and raped her. The singer urged fans to focus on the topic of victims of sexual and physical abuse being afraid to come forward with their stories and that her mission is to see women coming together and actually make a difference.

There’s something we can all learn from these very vocal celebrities, violence should not be tolerated. It doesn’t matter who it is or where it takes place, if you see someone being a victim of violence, do something about it. Get them the help they need, support one another. Don’t silence it.
