Beets have betaine, a nutrient that helps protect cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress. It also has choline, which helps with sleep, your muscles, and your memory. This nutrient aids the transmission of nerve impulses and helps it absorb fat and reduces chronic inflammation.

One of the best ways to get the most nutrients from beets is to eat them raw, but many people also like to drink beet juice. Drinking beet juice can help lower blood pressure quickly. The nitric oxide in beets helps relax and dilate your blood vessels, improving the flow and lowering your blood pressure.

Lowers Blood Sugar

Beets contain and antioxidant called alpha-lipoic acid, which lowers glucose levels and also decreases peripheral neuropathy in diabetics. It also increases insulin sensitivity and prevents stress changes that typically occur to people with diabetes.
