“Jesus Manuel Corona is out of the national team after his wife showed complications with her pregnancy and unfortunately lost the baby,” read a statement from the Mexican Football Federation.
The young 24-year-old has been one of the most consistent starters and has been consistently scoring for the team since he joined them about 2 years ago. There is no word if he will be returning, but the team understands that he must be with his family during this difficult time.
“It really hit him hard,” Mexico’s director of national teams Dennis te Kloese said. “He was really looking forward to these two games close to his home in Europe.”
