Just recently we heard that Justin Bieber was canceling his tour to deal with personal issues and last October Selena Gomez did the same. Being a celebrity may seem like it’s pure fame and glory, but it can create all sorts of emotional and mental health problems, which is what happened to Selena Gomez. The 25-year-old singer had to take some time off last fall to focus on her emotional health and get rid of the horrible exhaustion she was suffering.
“I went away for 90 days, and it was the best thing that I could’ve done,” she says to InStyle Magazine. “I had no phone, nothing, and I was scared. But it was amazing, and I learned a lot.” The singer needed some time to decompress and to just relax. “I was in the countryside and never did my hair; I took part in equine therapy, which is so beautiful,” she says. Equine therapy is also known as horse therapy, which involves spending time with horses by grooming, feeding, haltering, and leading a horse with the support of a mental health professional. Equine therapy has been successful in helping patients with a variety of emotional issues.

“And it was hard, obviously. But I knew what my heart was saying, and I thought, ‘OK, I think this has helped me become stronger for other people,'” she says about having to take time off to get the help she needed. Equine therapy has helped both adults and teens deal with issues related to substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, autism, trauma, depression, and much more.
