As a singer, you always have to wear tons of makeup and when she’s not performing she likes to keep her beauty regimen simple. “I think as you grow, you start discovering more about yourself and getting more comfortable in your skin,” she says. “And I think that’s made me feel like I don’t have to do as much anymore…. I guess I’m just more in tune with who I am and what I like and what I don’t – and I have the freedom to do it.”
But not so fast–it’s important to start a beauty routine early in your life. At 20, you may not take care of your skin as much as you do in your 30’s, but there’s definitely maintenance required. You don’t have to worry about using anti-aging creams, but one thing you do have to worry about at this age is keeping your face clean and acne-free. Start your day off with a gentle gel cleanser, preferably one with salicylic acid that exfoliates and destroys acne-causing bacteria. Then use sun protection, there are many face creams that have SPF added, so it’s important to look closely at the label. Too young for eye cream? Nope. If you have dark circles under your eyes, you might benefit from brightening eye cream to diminish not only lines but the bags under your eyes.
